Looking Back and Forward

1 Substantive Distance Credit (PA). $59. This is the 50th Anniversary of the passage of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. This law that prohibits sex discrimination in educational institutions has evolved since its passage with a string of court decisions, revised regulations, and regulatory guidance. This CLE will look at the evolution of Title IX over the past 50 years and look ahead to the new proposed Title IX regulations that the US Department of Education will issue in Spring 2022. Registrants will be emailed the course materials.

Presenter: Sheilah D. Vance, Esq. Vance is the principal of the Law Offices of Sheilah Vance and an Adjunct Professor at Villanova University School of Law, where she teaches the Education Law Seminar. She has a long history as a higher education administrator, including service as a Chief Officer for Compliance and EEO, Chief of Staff and Deputy to the President, Title IX Coordinator, and Assistant Dean. Vance is the co-chair of the Education Law Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association, a member of the Advisory Board of the Association of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA), and the Chair of the Board of Directors of The Clery Center.
